Protect your outboard all offseason with proven winterization supplies curated by OBParts. This collection covers every step—from fuel conditioning to internal corrosion protection—so your engine fires on the first turn next spring.
Fuel System Protection: Treat your tank with a marine-grade fuel stabilizer to combat ethanol issues, reduce varnish, and keep injectors/carburetors clean. Replace your water-separating fuel filter and run stabilized fuel through the system before storage.
Internal Corrosion Control: Use fogging oil to coat cylinders and crankcase surfaces (methods for both 2-stroke and 4-stroke). Follow your OEM procedure to fog through the intake or dedicated service port and disable ignition as required.
Gearcase Service: Drain and inspect lower unit oil for water or metal, then refill with 80W-90/Hi-Perf gear lube. A screw-on pump makes clean fills easy and prevents aeration. Replace drain/fill gaskets to avoid spring leaks.
Cooling System & Flushing: Flush the engine on muffs to purge salt, silt, and debris. Verify tell-tale flow and inspect impeller service intervals. (Closed-loop/sterndrive antifreeze steps vary—follow your engine’s manual.)
Finish & Storage: Fog the throttle body if specified, mist external surfaces with anti-corrosion spray, grease fittings and prop shaft, check plugs, torque fasteners, and store the engine upright. Label everything so spring recommissioning is fast.
