Shipping Damage Policy
Please inspect all shipments immediately upon delivery.
The receiving party is solely responsible for inspecting the shipment for any visible or concealed shipping damage before accepting delivery. We strongly recommend removing all packaging materials and thoroughly inspecting the product while the driver is present whenever possible.
Visible Damage
If any damage is visible at the time of delivery:
• The damage must be clearly noted on the delivery receipt or Bill of Lading (BOL).
• The driver must acknowledge the damage by signing the delivery receipt or BOL.
• Customers should photograph the damaged product, packaging, and shipment from multiple angles before and after unloading.
Failure to note visible damage at the time of delivery may limit or prevent recovery through the freight carrier.
Concealed Damage
If damage is discovered after delivery:
• Marine Parts Warehouse must be notified within 15 days of delivery.
• The customer must provide photographs of the product, packaging, and any shipping materials.
• All original packaging materials must be retained until the claim has been resolved.
Freight Claim Process
If Marine Parts Warehouse arranged the shipment:
• We will assist in filing the freight claim with the carrier.
• Additional documentation may be required.
• The carrier may request an inspection of the product and packaging.
• Damaged merchandise, packaging, and shipping materials must be retained until the claim is closed.
Claims may be denied by the carrier if the product, packaging, or shipping materials are discarded prior to inspection.
Customer-Arranged Freight
If the customer arranges their own freight shipment or uses a carrier not selected by Marine Parts Warehouse, the customer assumes full responsibility for filing and managing any freight damage claims directly with the carrier.
Important Notice
Do not install, operate, or attempt repairs to any product that may have sustained shipping damage. Doing so may jeopardize the freight claim process and may void eligibility for reimbursement or replacement.
